lyrics

Should we call him larry?
Lisa, stan or stew
whatever dude poe had in mind
that guilt grew, grew and grew

it grew to get uncomfy
a psychic road too bumpy
he couldnt take it anymore
everynight he cracked the door
to see that penetrating eye
that saw through all his lies
lies to himself, to his dog, to his cat
after weeks of fear of being found
now who could handle that

cuz guilt told the tale
told it straight from the heart
pick-pocketed his conscience
ran 100 yards of offense
tattle tale, tattle tale, tale tell a tale of loss
man i know you want to do it but you shouldnt kill your boss.

The problem is all we have is our perspective.
The problem is all we have are these 2 eyes.
How can anyone be objective when what we believe could all be lies.

Like the guy in The Tell-Tale Heart.
He said he wasn't crazy; he was just really smart.
That it's so close to genius, it's hard to tell apart.

My theory is he had bad parenting--
psychotic tendencies he ended up inheriting.
When they tortured him 'till he could take no more, he
of course ended up an Edgar Allen Poe story.
Another theory is he could be Korean
coming from centuries of guilt and agreein'
to do things you don't really want to do
because confucius says you have to follow the rules.
You end up feeling like a sham you have to keep up.
You end up feeling guilty 'cause you're never good enough.
You're guilty all the time and the guilt is unremitting
so you kill your boss and chop him up instead of just quitting.

We started in January 2009 playing songs written in response to Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions. We haven't stopped since. We've written & performed songs inspired by everything from "On The Origin of Species" to Dr. Seuss to Raymond Carver. There are BBCs popping up nationwide now. Bushwick Book Club Seattle started in 2010 & is run by Geoff Larson. Our nerdy dare-devilry knows no bounds. ... more
