St. Nick is a Dick. He gets a kick from every nit pick he can stick in each condition of his conditional love It's the kind it takes years to recov- er from because manipulation hurts, ouch. It means so many expensive hours lying down on the couch. You can keep what you've got in your pouch. Thanks Santa. He'll draw lines in the sand so you know where to stand. Don’t bother keeping up or keeping score. There’s no good for goodness sake. He makes the rules for you to break. Whatever you get he's getting more. But ho ho, what Santa don’t know is you can forgo all the presents and coal if you realign a child’s psyche in time to centuries of survival-trauma induced standards of perfection. Soon you don’t have to berate them at all. They’ll berate themselves if they let they’re grades fall. See, no need for presents at all. A little ancestral shame goes a long, long way. Every Asian parent can say "Duh, duh... duh... duh.. Duh, Santa." Genetic brow-beating is hard to compete with.

Oh Dear, When Did it Get to Be a Wednesday by Natti Vogel we're at the hotel bar pretending we're rockstars with one look at the Santa Claus, I suddenly want to kill myself Oh dear, when did it get to be a Wednesday? we're committed to bagels on that we agree and also the fact that both you and them are no good for me God, what have I been doing all of these months? That is of course to say besides you, and beside you Oh dear, when did it get to be a Wednesday at the end of December? New beer needs to be bought. New bagels need to be bought. Oh dear, when did it get to be a Wednesday at the end of December?

The Bushwick Book Club Brooklyn, New York

We started in January 2009 playing songs written in response to Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions. We haven't stopped since. We've written & performed songs inspired by everything from "On The Origin of Species" to Dr. Seuss to Raymond Carver. There are BBCs popping up nationwide now. Bushwick Book Club Seattle started in 2010 & is run by Geoff Larson. Our nerdy dare-devilry knows no bounds. ... more
