i wish i had told her all before i lost my strength
helpful to compare wheneer you're shy about your length
it's not like the dog sent into space to starve and die
sometimes some things happen and there's not use wonderin' why
mama did not always understand the things i did
in my life as a kid
i was sent away from home to live among the stars
boxing with a tomboy i soon learned to love my scars
but when she took her shirt off i did not know what to say
i feared for my innocence and had to run away
this girl opened up the bottle, threw away the lid
in my life as a kid
i climbed to the top of the sculptor's studio
fell into his model's arms with no place else to go
in the end i made some friends and broke my bad luck ways
through the glass i scratched my past and fell on better days
it's helpful to compare wheneer despair makes you feel sad
and think of all the tragedies that you have never had
fate is like an auction and i had to make my bid
in my life as a kid

No one keeps their promises.
Nothing is waterproof,
your prick will always be wet, even in a suit.
No reflection tape
Will keep you safe.
We love women’s breasts.
The whole world loves women’s breasts.
A woman’s ankles are for biting, not hard, just so.
Well well life is a difficult thing
It’s worse than worst.
Inside. There's an old man inside.
He is waiting to get out.
He hears death's messengers knocking.
The only thing to comfort you
is soon you'll be dead too.
Maybe I’ll end my days knitting a sweater for that cold heaven if I decide to stay that long.
Life is something we’ve just got on loan. Isn’t that funny.
The best thing I’ve got in life is just a loan. It’s all on loan.
Ha.
Isn't that funny.

The Word
Everything had to be a game
A game is something you do instead of
Everyone would end up the same
What do you care, you just keep us down here
Is it real, what they say of the soul
Is it true that it sticks to the body
If I want to get out of this world
I’ll stay out late ride my bike search for treasure
She had a black hole inside her
Floating and plunging at the same moment
Hole drilled a tunnel right through her
Was it her parents’ fault or was life just difficult
Is it real what they say about growing
You become what you are if you are what you are
If I want to get out of this world
I’ll lie behind clouds just like the moon does
Couldn’t fight the tide any longer
Even strong swimmers get tired and drown
Needed somewhere to belong
Nevermind where if currents are gentle
Is it real what they say of the heart
If you cut it open, you’d find a word carved there
If I want to get out of this world
May the word in my heart be harmony
Is it real what they say of the heart
If you cut it open, you’d find a word carved there
If I want to get out of this world
May the word in my heart be harmony

Gravity on Holiday
There's a lot I don't know but a few things i do
One is: from the moment you're born, your body betrays you
No one likes a nervous child who throws juice in his own face
Do you always feel like you're in the wrong place?
Gravity on holiday
Can I meet you there someday?
I think we'd get along
Dance and drink the right way
And I'd know better than to think I could stay
There's a lot I don't know but a few things i do
One is: when you're thirteen years old, your body betrays you
No one likes a frozen boy who says no while pointing yes
Is thirteen too young to be full of regret?
Gravity on holiday
Can I meet you there someday?
We don't have to speak
Words just get in the way
And I'd know better than to think I could stay
There's a lot I don't know but a few things i do
One is: while you're stuck on this earth, your body betrays you
Old man with the sunken eyes and the sad long face
In God's waiting room
I'll take your place
I'll take your…
Gravity on holiday
Can I meet you there someday?
I know you'd be kind
Wouldn't send me away
Yet I'd know better than to think I could stay
Yeah, I'd know better than to think I could stay.

The Bushwick Book Club Brooklyn, New York
We started in January 2009 playing songs written in response to Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions. We haven't stopped since. We've written & performed songs inspired by everything from "On The Origin of Species" to Dr. Seuss to Raymond Carver. There are BBCs popping up nationwide now. Bushwick Book Club Seattle started in 2010 & is run by Geoff Larson. Our nerdy dare-devilry knows no bounds. ... more
