The Admitted I’ve only got so much left to lose Who’s to say I shouldn’t give it up willingly? Join the freaks and live out the rest of my days On the carnival midway I’m gonna lighten my load These old limbs don’t give me nothing but pain, anymore If less really is more Then there’s no need to be sore about it Foxes have dens and birds have nests But if you follow Him The son of man has no place to rest his head When the tents come down on the edge of town And the fairground’s turned to mud There’s nothing like that rumbling sound Of the party caravan rolling out The dust blurs the line That divides the road and sky Here no one asks you why Or what you’ve left behind Foxes have dens and birds have nests But if you follow Him The son of man has no place to rest his head After awhile All these little towns start to look the same And after awhile It doesn’t really matter what your name is It doesn’t really matter what day it is And it doesn’t really matter what the right way is Still, some stink you just can’t shake Like the beard on the Cat Man’s face You’re always gonna reek Of the beasts you choose to keep You cling to the crumbs of love, oh, It really does permeate everything Foxes have dens and birds have nests But if you follow Him The son of man has no place to rest his head There was a time when I felt at home In the cradle of your arms Your pulse slowed to meet my own And for that moment we were one But even if our bodies shared some secret intuition When I searched your eyes I couldn’t find even a hint of recognition I never felt more alone I never felt more alone This ride’s spinning out of control The operator’s passed out at the console The gears grind and the brakes whine But I’ve got nothing left to lose They can’t take it if you give it up willingly What’s left when you cut it all away? Just another freak out on the midway Foxes have dens and birds have nests But if you follow Him The son of man has no place to rest his head Foxes have dens and birds have nests But if you follow Him The son of man has no place to rest his head

DEAR MIRANDA You do not know me, that was my choice. I sent you away to save you, I swear. Save you from angry words and angry voices From who you might have been here, Dear Miranda. This will surprise you, I know I couldn’t do much, but I did what I could. You thought me gone, and you were wrong and not wrong I wanted you to be good, Dear Miranda. Dear Miranda. I’ll never make god on this debt. I didn’t know what else to do. I’ve spent so long between forget and regret, All that remains now is you. Dear Miranda. Dear Miranda. It’s not a nice place, the world. It’s amazing and it’s vast, But it’s not a nice place, this world. Nice is far too much to ask. It’s like someone said to someone once, how nothing gold can last. You were a good thing, my girl, You were good and you were new. But any good thing, my girl, Has no place inside their zoo. They will find whatever’s good and they will tear it out of you. I couldn’t keep you, I swear, Keep you safe from any harm. I had to send you, my dear, To those rude and frigid nuns. For as long as any asshole can just buy a fucking gun, This world is not a nice place for anyone. I don’t know if you are angry, But if you’re like me, you’re angry. (Hope you’re not like me, and if you are, I’m sorry.) I thought things would get better, Or that you would make them better. Better is a promise that was broken, oh my dear Miranda. I’ll never make god on this debt. I didn’t know what else to do. I’ve spent so long between forget and regret, All that remains now is you. Dear Miranda. Dear Miranda. And you’re the one they’ll turn to now. You may not know what you can do. You are the strong one, and you’ll find it somehow. All that remains now is you. Please take care of what’s left of our family

Wonders of the World We did all we could to make you special And we created wonders of the world Clifford, Maple, Janus, and the Fist Apple and Leona the Lizard Girl Everything we had to give, we put into to making you Prayers and wishes, love and dreams and hopes But that was not enough and so we added to the stew Drugs, insecticides and radioactive isotopes Four of your siblings survived and we're so glad that they're alive The six of you are failures when you died we cried and cried We think about you every day And now we keep you on display In big glass jars filled with formaldehyde Cherubic Apple you died when you were two Leona, you only lasted seven months The other four, you died in utero Failures all, but oh we love you so Fist, you look like a fist And Maple, you look like a rumpled sponge Clifford you look like a pan of lasagna, so your siblings call you the Tray Janus with your face so fine And another head growing out of your spine We love you less than we will tomorrow and more than we did yesterday Everything we had, we put into making you Prayers and wishes, love and dreams and hopes But that was not enough and so we added to the stew Drugs, insecticides and radioactive isotopes We did the best we could to make you special And we created wonders of the world Clifford, Maple, Janus, and the Fist Apple and Leona the Lizard Girl

Born to be the making of a dream Pills and roses, a potent recipe The talented were given jars and sheets The talentless slept under the sink A barker is trained to speak in code Love buried underneath the word Whispering first but soon the seats would shake The power in your voice beneath the wake The trouble was you never could see through me Like I saw through you Home can feel like a cage with no bars But there’s the key What's the price you'd pay to be unique Limbs and tails replaced with space and peace The trouble was you never could see through me I was under the impression that You were used to being stared at

Once upon a time experiments sublime made a different kind of family drugs and radiation Made the perfect mutations that most would think was blasphemy. Arturo was born with no limbs but could swim with the flippers that were there instead. His sisters were joined at the hip and it meant that later they’d be popular in bed. Then there was Oly followed Arty like a collie And served him and and foot without quibbling.
A dwarf trying to cope  with no pigment or hope of being more unique than her siblings
For all their abnormalities like all families theres rivalry and needing to feel loved. So much there was incest and murder and secrets that only seemed to lead to more of the above.

Now they're all Binewski dust in a cup that'll just finally be serene on the hood of a travelling machine. Drama is drama  theirs included the trauma of a cult of dismemberment Chick would make them numb hacked into holy stumps becoming the same to be different.
Siamese twins Evil cult leader with fins The fattest baby in the world Miss Lick thinks she’s right helping women use their minds by cutting off the parts that make them girls. Oly’s consummation was made with no flirtation Just a boy granting his sister’s request But it was by telekinesis so if there's no act to resist is it rape or just three-way incest.

What is the Point of Being Loved The birds of the air have their nests The foxes of the ground have their holes But the son of man hath nowhere to rest his head The son of man hath nowhere to go There is no surge without the risk Amazed and scared I give you this Ten little boys a white voice choir My dreamlet doves my butterflies I've seen the tigers their fangs in each other's throats The sizzling heat of their shadowed hides Toreadors with their flags pumping slow Stringing tractor boys tighter than banjo wire Lovely you are and oh so kind To tender young ravening lions You're disappearing bit by bit There's nothing left for me to grip Chorus: What is the point of being loved To warm your backbone in the dark Exploding feathers and black blood A meshing bloodstream separate hearts Our strangeness caused us no fear We made our own air and we carried it with us Created a rarified atmosphere Of hot sugar, lube grease and dust The redheads read their magazines Look up from hot popcorn machines What happened to our Crystal Lil She's cracked inside, asleep on pills (Chorus) Remember my dear It was in our first year Before our little roses came along You jumped in the geek pit And as I bit off their heads You sang a Schubert song A true freak cannot be made My heart is a hive of electric bees I have fallen into the big cat cage And the tigers are brushing their hot length against me What is the point of being loved To warm your backbone in the dark Exploding feathers and black blood A meshing bloodstream separate hearts The birds of the air have their nests The foxes of the ground have their holes But the son of man hath nowhere to rest his head The son of man hath nowhere to go What is the point of being loved...

about

The Bushwick Book Club Brooklyn, New York

We started in January 2009 playing songs written in response to Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions. We haven't stopped since. We've written & performed songs inspired by everything from "On The Origin of Species" to Dr. Seuss to Raymond Carver. There are BBCs popping up nationwide now. Bushwick Book Club Seattle started in 2010 & is run by Geoff Larson. Our nerdy dare-devilry knows no bounds. ... more
