CH: Montenegro, little Montenegro Montenegro on the Adriatic Sea Montenegro, little Montenegro Warm-hearted country with a troubled history. Prince Danilo told Nicolas Rex, Extraordinary valour is meaningless When your life is invented and you can’t confess Hop on a ship and take your mess to... CH When the Ottomans knock and they want your cash And the Byzantines burn your villages to ash And you claim independence and throw a bash Don’t side with the Serbs or your car will crash. CH Oh, Oh, Oh, Grow, Montenegro Montenegro, little land of strife Unhappy, happy, unhappy wife Pin a medal on your pride, but hide your pain If you’re out of whiskey then drink champagne. CH When the king is dead and the parties fade The careless and confused stumble from the fray Look out across that distant bay A little green lantern will light the way to... CH Oh, Oh, Oh, Grow Montenegro CH END.

1920, 2020, you pick any century and tell me human misery has changed in some capacity those that have and those that don't living separate fantasies your new york is hard to see from my world of luxury… why we all be playin' games like grown ups? so sophisticated- gets so complicated when desires get frustrated you were loved and now you're hated- it's a silver plated life with a gilded wife but scrape it with a knife you'll find the strife i tell you- rich and poor are both unhappy, but the rich hold all the cards drive their cars and run you over spending all their four leaf clovers the ones that weren't born here are the ones full of pretensions they've adopted attitudes from movies full of condescension perpetuated myths and mannerisms of invention while born-and-bred new yorkers are the ones that don't get mentioned they're genuine and never qualify for your attention it could be the hamptons, generations full of power it could be the williamsburg, who live in artsy towers buying up the property, to them it's like Monopoly, their reckless sweeping of the poor - like they're nothing but debris assimilating culturally and then making it trendy- mister gatsby, mister gatsby a phony among phonies, mister gatsby... america says you're the greatest book it's ever read don't know what good that does us, but that's what the critics said

Her voice is a deathless song Rock of the world, founded on a fairies wing Her voice is full of money You can't repeat the past She used to understand me In Louisville she moved fast And we rose and fell in that We jingled and jangled in it Oh the cymbals' song a that Sounded like this There is no difference between men a thinning briefcase of enthusiasm A singing compulsion, a whispered listen An arrangement of words never to be played again A decade of loneliness I am one of the few honest people I've ever known She asked me questions In her low, thrilling voice I followed it up and down Compelled I had no choices And we rose and fell in that We jingled and jangled in it Oh the cymbals' song of that Sounded like this A singing compulsion, a whispered listen a thinning briefcase of enthusiasm There is no difference between men An arrangement of words never to be played again And now I'm thirty and now i'm thirty years old A thinning list of single women to know There's a big difference between the sick and the well Thinning hair and if I die who will tell My greatest fear in life Is that someday I am gonna die alone Of course the funny thing Everybody dies alone People all around You close your eyes you're on your own So let's rise and fall in this Let's jingle jangle in it And the cymbals' song of it Will sound like this

about

The Bushwick Book Club Brooklyn, New York

We started in January 2009 playing songs written in response to Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions. We haven't stopped since. We've written & performed songs inspired by everything from "On The Origin of Species" to Dr. Seuss to Raymond Carver. There are BBCs popping up nationwide now. Bushwick Book Club Seattle started in 2010 & is run by Geoff Larson. Our nerdy dare-devilry knows no bounds. ... more
