lyrics

Swallow your pride and open your mouth
Once you get your mouth in the door, there’s no getting out.
You can just open your mouth and let it fly.
Put away you pride and start blabbing
I’s a lot better than having
A boring time,
Call it whoring if you want, there’s time for snoring when you’re dead
Get on the soapbox instead.
When it’s all been said.
You will have earned the bread you put into your mouth with what comes out.

Sing for your super
Lecture for lunch
Blab for breakfast, conjecture through brunch
Talk for treats
Speak for snacks
Articulate for appetizers
and after that
Dictate for dessert

People need to be told
attention needs something to hold.
Something to rally for or rail against
Mull over, or take offense
So give them something to listen to
And even if they don’t
Open your mouth.
Just having taste, good taste, bad taste, will give you more to taste.
Open your mouth.

The Bushwick Book Club Brooklyn, New York

We started in January 2009 playing songs written in response to Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions. We haven't stopped since. We've written & performed songs inspired by everything from "On The Origin of Species" to Dr. Seuss to Raymond Carver. There are BBCs popping up nationwide now. Bushwick Book Club Seattle started in 2010 & is run by Geoff Larson. Our nerdy dare-devilry knows no bounds. ... more
